As a result of feedback from the community, Council is investigating the concept of a Mawhera Innovation Hub in the CBD of Greymouth as part of the CBD Revitalisation Plan, HERE.
Council expects to work with landowners, business owners, community groups and those interested in becoming tenants to develop a full proposal.
It is anticipated that the hub will:
- Support enterprise and drive business growth
- Leverage Ultra-Fast Broadband to collapse the physical distance experienced by our businesses and communities
- Increase access to digital tools, skills and opportunities in the local economy
- Provide space for community events and visitor experiences
- Add value into the community by attracting further investment
As an anchor hub of the urban revitalisation already underway, it is anticipated the Mawhera Innovation Hub will encourage business confidence and provide people with enhanced liveable places in and beyond Greymouth CBD.
